Hello, my name is Gareth and I'm from England. My question is do you believe in the justice system?
This is a really difficult question for me to answer because I've never had any personal experience with the criminal justice system. I've never been on the right side of the justice system, meaning I've never been a victim of a crime and I've never been on the wrong side. I've never committed a crime and been sent to jail, so my opinion is only based on things that I've heard, things that I've read but I do believe that our system, the system that we have nowadays is the best system that we've had since civilization.
The reason for this is that I don't feel that we should go back to shaming people publicly, shaming people or ostracizing them from our communities. I feel that's not the way to go and I also don't feel that we should take justice into our own hands. I don't feel that victims should seek revenge on the people that have done them wrong. But that's not to say the justice system is perfect. For example, in England, the law enforcement is moving away from humans and it's moving towards technology and I feel that although this is good when it comes to the courts, when you have to prove that someone is innocent or guilty, I think it's good in that respect but I don't think that it prevents people from committing crimes. I think that crimes are still being committed despite the fact that there is so much CCTV. I think we should go back to an older model of law enforcement where actual people walked the streets, patrolled the streets and kept the streets safe. I think that would be a better way to deal with crime.
So that's my answer to this very difficult question.
