Hello, my name's Elaine and I'm from England. Today's question for me is how is medical care in your country?
I'm not going to talk about the medical care in England because I live in Italy now.
The medical care here is very good. It's subsidized by the government, which means we have free general practitioners for all, subsidized prescriptions. And the operations which are necessary, so they are low cost. They're not completely free. If you want to speed things up a little bit and see somebody quicker, there is the option to go private and pay for your medical care.
In general, the care is very good. The doctors are highly qualified. I would say the bedside manner, which is more about the approach, is probably much more formal than I've experienced in other countries. The environment and the equipment where I am, in the South of Italy, in particular, is a little bit out of date or a little bit old fashioned and not quite as welcoming as in other countries in the world.
Anyway, so what about you? How is the healthcare in your country? We'd love to hear.
