Eight people have been injured in a bus crash on the outskirts of the city. The accident happened at 3.10pm yesterday afternoon when the bus ploughed into the cemetery wall. The cause of the crash is being investigated, although it is thought that the driver fell asleep at the wheel. Noone is critically injured. More soon.
There will be a parade in town today to commemorate the mayor’s birthday. He will be 60 tomorrow. The parade, organised by the local council, will begin at 3 o’clock in the town square. Volunteers in fancy dress will collect money along the way, which will be donated to the local hospital.
A giant butterfly has been spotted in Green Park. The butterfly, which was spotted by several individuals in a number of sightings, is said to have a wingspan of approximately 20 centimetres. Local conservationists are now out in force in an attempt to locate the butterfly and find out more about it.
A reformed drug addict will tell his story at the community centre tomorrow. ‘Joe’, as he likes to be called, was imprisoned for 3 years for selling and possessing drugs. Since then he has changed dramatically and taken up painting. Some of his artwork will be on sale at the event. Admission is free.
The price of apples has risen unexpectedly nationwide this week. Customers can expect to pay an average of 59 pence per apple. Farmers say there has not been enough sun this year to grow apples and those which have grown have been affected by a mysterious bug, causing them to brown very quickly.
